San Roque in Santa Barbara, California
San Roque is a charming neighborhood located just northwest of Downtown Santa Barbara. San Roque is known for its diverse architecture, beautiful parks and trails, and excellent schools. These qualities make San Roque the perfect place for families and nature-lovers to live and visit. Here’s our team’s favorite activities to do in San Roque, Santa Barbara!
David: “Some of the most quintessential Santa Barbara architecture is in San Roque. You'll find 1930s Spanish, Monterey Colonial, English Tudor. Lots of irreplaceable character. You'll also find the best grocery store selection in San Roque - the only Whole Foods in Santa Barbara is here. There is also a Gelson’s Market and Bristol Farms. Trader Joe's is close by. For breakfast, I love Jeannine's (the Rajas tacos!) and croissants from Renauds. For dinner, Via Maestra is a kinda hidden local Santa Barbara Italian restaurant. Small & quaint, but so good! Harry's is a go-to for a hearty meal and a stiff drink. My kids love the parks in San Roque - Willowglen and Stevens Park.”
Devin: “Your Choice is always a good choice for Thai food, plus they host the weekly Creaminal pop up for getting your ice cream and dessert fix. Chaucer's is one of the best local bookshops you'll come across, as they carry local and national authors alike. And if you're walking or biking, don't miss the little trail at the end of Las Encinas Road that connects San Roque to the Natural History Museum!”
Teddy: “We love San Roque. My daughters attend Peabody Charter School so we spend a lot of time there. We frequent Handlebar Coffee Roasters on De La Vina and like to take the girls to Steven's Park. It is a fun place to let the kids run around or even host birthday parties. After a big rain, when the suns out, the kids love bringing their bathing suits and playing in the creek. They could spend hours playing with sticks and exploring! For lunch or a quick dinner, we go to El Sitio for burritos. The staff is so sweet and there's nothing better than a midweek bean and cheese burrito when you haven't prepped anything for dinner! When I am feeling like a "fun mom", we'll walk across the parking lot to Grocery Outlet to buy a random toy to entertain the kids. Everyone goes home happy!”
