Casa Pacifica: Inspiring Hope and Nurturing Mental Health
This week, we are showcasing Casa Pacifica, a nonprofit whose mission is to inspire hope and nurture the mental health and well-being of children, young adults, and families, helping them realize their full potential. Casa Pacifica works with children and young adults who struggle with behavioral and mental health challenges, utilizing best practices and evidence-based care to guide diagnosis and treatment.
Casa Pacifica was first established in response to a lack of services for children entering the foster care system. In 1994, Casa Pacifica officially opened its doors in Ventura as a campus-based crisis-care center, offering a range of assessments, treatments, and services for children and families. In 2003, Casa Pacifica expanded its community-based services to Santa Barbara County with the goal of preventing the removal of children from their homes and keeping families together safely. They later created services that include transitional housing and programs to help at-risk youth develop skills to prepare for life outside the child welfare system. Most recently, they launched their Camino a Casa program, serving youth at risk of or returning from psychiatric hospitalization.
Today, Casa Pacifica is the largest nonprofit provider of children’s and adolescent mental health services in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, with four locations specializing in mental health, developmental education, and wrap-around services. Casa Pacifica’s impact on children and families is immense, supporting over 2,100 youth and families and receiving 1,020 crisis calls every year. Since their founding 30 years ago, they have served more than 50,000 youth and are dedicated to continuing their goal of helping children and families heal.
