A new housing project located just West of the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club is on the horizon. The Santa Barbara Polo Villas project was unanimously approved by the County Planning Commissioner and is set to begin construction later this year.
The project aims to build 40 new homes across 12 acres of land between Montecito and Carpenteria, including 25 detached single-family homes and 15 condominiums. Of the 15 condos, 3 will be offered at the low-income level, and 3 will be offered at the moderate-income level. The single-family homes will range from 2,744 sq ft to 4,044 sq ft, with a mix of both single and two stories, and 2-car garages. The condos are set to average 1,180 sq ft and will vary between 1 and 2 stories and 1 and 2 bedrooms.
In addition to the homes, 4.17 acres of the land is planned to be common open space. This area includes the creek corridor, central pond, and bio-retention areas. The project incorporates a restoration and enhancement plan for the creek area that will replace non-native vegetation with native vegetation, and remove a dirt road that will allow for better creek flow. A public trail is also planned to be made along the East side of the Villas.
*JULY 2024 UPDATE: The current plan consists of 25 Single Family Homes, 3-4 bedrooms, and approx 2,800-4,000 sq ft. There will also be 15 Townhomes - most offering 2 bedrooms, but some will offer 3 bedrooms.
