Discover Santa Barbara’s rich architectural history on a guided walking tour through downtown. Led by knowledgeable volunteer docents, this two-hour stroll showcases historic buildings, unique styles, and the city’s post-1925 earthquake revival. A great way to explore local history!
The Architectural Foundation of Santa Barbara offers a number of programs and events that provide educational opportunities for the public and youth involving local architects and building professionals. In addition to their walking tours and programs, the organization also offers an art gallery where you can explore exhibits from local artists, designers, and architects. The Foundation aims to promote art, architecture and design by encouraging awareness and appreciation of the built environment in our beautiful community.
The walking tours are held every Saturday at 10 AM, leaving from the City Hall steps at De La Guerra Plaza. A $20 suggested donation supports the program, and reservations are recommended. Participants will get to view and learn about iconic Santa Barbara structures including Casa de La Guerra and the Lobero Theater. Learn more here.
