Santa Barbara Rincon
The 2026 Rincon Classic is officially ON, with organizers locking in February 7-8 after identifying the best possible conditions for this legendary break.
As the oldest surf contest in Santa Barbara, the Rincon Classic is a true Winter tradition - bringing together generations of the area’s best surfers for two days of classic point break performances at Rincon Point. Known for prioritizing wave quality above all else, the event operates within a six-week waiting period, only calling the contest when conditions align.
Founded by Roger Nance, Jeff White, and a group of local surfers, The Rincon Classic originally ran from 1979 through 1996, and was later revived in 2001 by Chris Keet and the Surf Happens crew. The Classic has hosted surfing stars like Tom Curren and Bobby Martinez, rising talent like Lakey Peterson, and of course - all the incredible local surfers throughout the Santa Barbara area.
