James Cameron's Hollister Ranch estate sells for $26 million
Award-winning director and Santa Barbara local, James Cameron, recently sold his 102-acre ranch for 26 million dollars. Located in the Hollister Ranch neighborhood of Gaviota, California, the director originally purchased the property in the 1990’s for 4.3 million, just a small fraction of what it sold for today.
Listed by Village Properties and Hollister Ranch Realty, the expansive property boasts an 8,000 sqft main house, a 2,000 sqft guesthouse, a 24,000 sqft barn, and a helipad. Inside the estate is a gym, a movie theater, dual offices, and a game room. With high vaulted ceilings, a large pool, and greenery throughout the property, Cameron described the estate as having a “Hawaii Resort” vibe. The property also features tennis courts and massive gardens.
The Titanic/Avatar director revealed that he spent much time working on his scripts at the beautiful coastal property, which boasts stunning views of the California oceans and mountains. Known as the “Galápagos of North America”, the Gaviota coast west of Santa Barbara is known for it’s broad range of ecosystems and biodiversity. Cameron and his wife Suzy Amis Cameron are avid environmental activists and sought to preserve the land, having built sustainable solutions like on-site wells for drinking and irrigation water and solar wind and power capabilities.
