This weekend, the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County is hosting its first-ever UnGala: “No Party, Just Impact.”
With cuts to federal funding and poverty rates on the rise, the Foodbank has decided to retire some of their larger legacy events in order to make the biggest possible impact for those in need. This innovative approach to community support seeks to ensure that every dollar goes directly toward feeding local families facing food insecurity, with donations matched up $100,000. So no need to purchase tickets or wear formal attire. This year, just enjoy a nice meal at home with the knowledge that that across town, your generosity is helping others do the same.
On June 1st, anywhere you are, take the following steps to participate in the UnGala:
- Donate the amount you might have spent on tickets, attire, and transportation to a regular gala
- Share your support on social media using the #UnGalaImpact hashtag
- Celebrate at home with a nice meal knowing 100% of your gift is making a difference
