Favorite Activities in Carpinteria!

Downtown Carpinteria, California

Located about 12 miles south of Santa Barbara lies the beautiful seaside city of Carpinteria. Known for its excellent beaches, scenic views, and laidback atmosphere, Carpinteria perfectly encapsulates the California beach lifestyle and radiates small-town charm. From fun outdoor activities to great shopping/dining in the Downtown area, Carpinteria offers a variety of things to do that everyone can enjoy. Here are some of the team’s favorite activities in Carpinteria!

David: “I love Carpinteria! The quaint downtown strip (Linden Ave) is still predominantly local and mom & pop businesses. Our fam loves Esau‘s for breakfast (pancakes are the kid’s favorite). Padaro Beach Grill is kid-friendly with plenty of space for outdoor play, while the grown ups can enjoy a meal. We just make it a beach day since Santa Claus Beach is right out front. Our friends started The Good Plow, an epic farm to table restaurant with lots of delicious plant-based options. Camping is great at Carpinteria State Beach (pro-tip: you can still walk to Island Brewing Co, so you’re not totally roughing it.”

Devin: “Head to the back counter at Reyes Market for an under the radar burrito. Arrive at Carpinteria State Beach campground by bike and you can secure a campsite for cheap, even if all the other sites are reserved already! The Carpinteria Bluffs Nature Preserve is an easy and scenic walk, plus you can make your way down the ramp to the seal sanctuary. Grab a coffee at Lucky Llama and soak up the sun on their patio.”

Teddy: “One of my favorite things to do with my husband and daughters is take the train from Santa Barbara to Carpinteria. Once we arrive in Carp, we head straight to the park across the street to let the kids explore and run around. Walking down Linden Avenue is fun too, especially on Thursday afternoons when they have their farmer’s market. For a healthy snack, there is a great health food store called Pacific Health Foods. They have smoothies, green juices, groceries and snacks galore. We also love Thai food and one of our favorite spots is Siam Elephant. And for a sweet treat, Robitaille's Fine Candies is a must!”
