Did you know Earth Day has deep roots in Santa Barbara? After a devastating oil spill hit Santa Barbara in 1969, the community came together to create the first Earth Day to raise awareness about environmental threats and celebrate environmental progress. Today, Earth Day is celebrated across the globe on April 22nd, with Santa Barbara's festival being one of the longest running Earth Day events in the country!
