The Santa Barbara Greek Festival is an annual celebration on August 14, 15, and 16 that brings Greek culture, traditions, and community to Santa Barbara. Presented by the Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, the festival has been a local tradition for more than 50 years. It gives visitors the chance to experience Greek culture through food, music, dancing, and family-friendly activities in a lively outdoor setting. The 2026 53rd festival takes place at Chase Palm Park along the Santa Barbara waterfront.
One of the biggest parts of the festival is the authentic Greek food. Visitors can enjoy traditional dishes such as gyros, souvlaki, spanakoptia, pastitsio, Greek salad, hummus and pita, along with desserts like baklava and loukoumades. The festival also offers Greek wine, beer, and imported Greek sodas. Throughout the weekend, there is live Greek music, DJs, traditional dance performances, and dance lessons where guests can learn some of the dances themselves.
The festival is designed to feel like a celebration of Greek life and hospitality rather than simply a food festival. Families can enjoy arts and crafts, face painting, lawn games, and other children's activities, while visitors can spend time eating, listening to music, dancing, and learning more about Greek traditions. Overall, the Santa Barbara Greek Festival brings the community together for a weekend centered around Greek heritage, food, entertainment, and culture.
