Pianos on State returns to downtown Santa Barbara from September 29 through October 19, 2026, bringing art and live music directly to the streets! Sponsored by the Santa Barbara Bowl and produced as a program of the Santa Barbara Arts Collaborative, this interactive installation brings beautifully painted pianos to downtown State Street for the public to enjoy for three full weeks.
Throughout the event, uniquely painted grand and upright pianos created by local artists and teams are placed along downtown street corners. People of all skill levels are invited to play, creating a vibrant mix of scheduled performances by student musicians and unexpected solos from talented passersby.
Beyond offering continuous entertainment, the Pianos on State program fosters a sense of community and accessible creativity in the heart of Santa Barbara's cultural district. Whether you stop to listen, admire the colorful custom artwork, or play a song of your own, Pianos on State is a wonderful local tradition meant for anyone and everyone.
