The Mesa and Shoreline Park
Situated along the coast of Santa Barbara is The Mesa, a neighborhood home to beautiful beaches and parks, and fantastic dining. Our team has close ties to this scenic beachside neighborhood, so we wanted to share a few of our favorite activities to do here at The Mesa in Santa Barbara!
David: “I used to live on the Mesa and I love how close it is to the beach, shops & restaurants, and to Downtown. My kids love riding scooters and skateboards at Shoreline Park, and will try to spot whales from the bluffs. Lazy Acres is one of my favorite grocery stores in town. They have a great hot bar, and yummy fresh juices and smoothies. Mesa Verde offers delicious vegan food (I'm not vegan but love the food here!”
Devin: “I also used to live on the Mesa (Borton Dr. & Barranca Ave.) and loved connecting the Douglas Preserve and Elings Park by bike. Grab a burrito from Super Cuca's and watch the sunset from Hilda McIntyre park. Leadbetter Beach is more of a beginner's surf spot but you can catch me out there whenever it's breaking. Lastly, don't miss the secret footbridge at the end of El Camino de la Luz!”
Teddy: “One of my favorite things to do on the Mesa is run the stadiums at Santa Barbara City College. There is nothing more rewarding than the view of the harbor, city and ocean from the top of the stairs. There's gotta be something that makes the hard workout worth it! When I am with my family, we like to take the girls on the Lil' Toot boat for a trip around the harbor. The captain takes you out to this big buoy where you can see sea lions sunbathing and jumping in and out of the water. The kids love it! For an easy lunch we usually go to On The Alley for fish tacos and chicken tenders. We also love bringing scooters and bikes over to Shoreline Park. We park in the parking lot at the top of Leadbetter Beach and ride to the park, spend an hour there, and ride back to the car. It is the perfect family activity. Last time I was there, I was pushing my daughter on the swing, the mountains were behind her and to the right was the ocean. It was such a breathtaking view, I thought to myself, "I can't believe I live here, I am so lucky to call this beautiful place home!”
