Goleta also offers an assortment of diverse restaurants and stores and is home to UCSB, one of the top public universities in California. Whether it’s recreational or educational, Goleta has activities for everyone to enjoy! Here are DK Group’s favorite Goleta activities.
David: “As a UC Santa Barbara alum (Go Gauchos), Goleta holds a special place in my heart. My earliest memories in Santa Barbara were of surfing all over Goleta & Isla Vista. If you have kids and live anywhere in Santa Barbara, you've probably spent many weekends and evenings at Girsh Park for soccer and baseball games. My girls love breakfast at Jeanine's because they have a large outdoor patio area. The Goleta Butterfly Grove is an easy walking trail that leads to the beach. It's amazing to see the Monarch butterfly migration! My buddies and I like to grab a beer at Captain Fattys or M. Special.”
Devin: “Start the day with coffee and a pastry (or two!) from Dune on Hollister. Loop the UCSB lagoon for a scenic run or bike ride. Devereaux is a welcoming beach for surfing or laying out. Grab lunch at On The Alley and tailgate on Farren Road for some of the best views in town. Hit Jonny Wallis Park for the skatepark and playground. Draughtsman Aleworks is a low key spot to grab a beer and they also host weekly group bike ride.”
Teddy: “Sunday morning Famers Market in the Camino Real Marketplace is always fun family activity. A lot of vendors attend this market and they have the best selection of produce. My husband is the Head Men’s Tennis coach at UCSB so during tennis season, I like to bring our daughters out to watch the team play. There’s a big turf lawn right next to the courts so it’s really family friendly. There is even a park on campus that our girls love going to. The other UCSB sports games are really fun and lively as well, specifically the soccer and basketball games. One of our favorite Thai restaurants, Tap Thai, recently moved to Goleta. Some of our go-to appetizers are the shrimp rolls and tap rolls!!”
