Arts in the Open is bringing free live performances to Santa Barbara's historic Plaza del Mar Band Shell throughout the summer. Presented with support from the City of Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation Department and the PARC Foundation, the series allows the community to enjoy music, performing arts, and local culture in an outdoor setting at Plaza del Mar. Admission to the performances is free.
The 2026 series began in June with two performances by Bob Baker Marionettes, followed by Coastal Sounds, an afternoon featuring independent artists. July brought Delta by the Beach to the Band Shell, while the Music Academy of the West Performed on August 2. Each event offers something different while giving families, friends, and visitors another way to enjoy Santa Barbara's outdoor spaces and arts community.
There are still two opportunities to enjoy Arts in the Open this season! On Sunday, August 30, Prime Time Band will perform from 2:00 - 3:00 PM. The series concludes on Saturday, September 5, with Santa Barbara-based Salty Springs performing from 4:00-7:00 PM. Both performances will take place at the Plaza del Mar Band Shell and are free to attend.
Weather your'e looking for an afternoon of live music or simply another reason to spend time outdoors in Santa Barbara, Arts in the Open is a great way to experience local arts and community in one of the city's historic public spaces.
